About this service

More about presentation help

A strong presentation has a clear message, simple slides and a speaker who knows what to say. FLN Tutors' presentation help supports all three, from the storyline to presentation design in PowerPoint and speaker notes, for seminar presentations, group projects, poster sessions, dissertation and viva presentations, pitch decks and job interview tasks.

Send the brief, your content or draft slides, the time limit and any template your course requires. An expert helps you plan the storyline: what the audience needs to know, in what order, and what to cut. They then design clean slides, with one idea per slide, readable fonts, charts that make the data obvious and consistent branding. They can also prepare speaker notes timed to your slot, from a 5-minute talk to a 20-minute assessed presentation.

Work is delivered as an editable PowerPoint, Google Slides or Keynote file. Sources and images are cited in your referencing style, whether Harvard or APA. If you want to practise, you can book a live session to rehearse delivery and likely questions.

Presentation help covers business, marketing, nursing and health, engineering, computing and the sciences, at school, university and professional level.

Your files stay confidential, revisions within the brief are free, and you see the price before you confirm.

This includes PowerPoint presentation design and PPT design: clear slide layouts, readable charts and PowerPoint slide design that follows your university template.

Which presentations do we help with?

We help with academic, professional and personal presentations at school, university and work. Each project goes to an expert who understands both the subject and good slide design.

  • Seminar and module presentations, including assessed university presentations
  • Group presentations: making slides from several people look and read as one deck
  • Academic posters for conferences and coursework
  • Dissertation and viva presentations, see dissertation help
  • Case-study presentations in business, nursing and engineering
  • Pitch decks and job interview presentation tasks

How are assessed presentations marked?

Assessed presentations are usually marked on content, structure, slide design, delivery and how well you handle questions. Content and argument carry the most weight in most rubrics, but clear slides and confident timing often decide the higher bands. Always check your module's marking criteria.

CriterionWhat markers look for
ContentAccurate, relevant points that answer the brief, with evidence
StructureA clear opening, logical flow and a strong conclusion
Slides and visualsReadable, uncluttered slides with referenced sources
DeliveryEye contact, pace, clear voice and keeping to time
QuestionsConfident, accurate answers that show understanding
Group work (if assessed)Smooth handovers and a consistent deck

How do you make a presentation look professional?

A professional presentation uses one idea per slide, consistent fonts and colours, plenty of white space and visuals that explain rather than decorate. Detail belongs in your speaker notes, not on the slide. Experts apply these rules to your content and your template.

  1. Write a headline on each slide that states the point, not just the topic.
  2. Keep text to a few short lines or bullets.
  3. Use a consistent grid, two fonts at most and a limited colour palette.
  4. Turn numbers into simple charts with clear labels.
  5. Cite sources and images in your required referencing style.

How many slides should a presentation have?

A common guide is about one slide per minute, so a 10-minute presentation usually needs 8 to 12 slides. At a natural pace of 130 to 150 words a minute, your speaker notes should be roughly that many words per minute of talk.

Time slotSlides (guide)Speaker notes (approx.)
5 minutes5–7650–750 words
10 minutes8–121,300–1,500 words
15 minutes12–161,950–2,250 words
20 minutes15–202,600–3,000 words

What does a 10-minute presentation plan look like?

A 10-minute presentation works well with about 10 slides and 1,300 to 1,500 words of speaker notes, giving the findings the most time. Here is an illustrative plan for a research presentation that you can adapt to your own brief.

How do you present research effectively?

A research presentation should tell the story of your study: the problem, what you did, what you found and why it matters. Keep methods brief, give your results the most space, and end with clear implications. Experts help you turn a dissertation, paper or poster into a focused, well-timed talk.

  1. Open with the problem and your research question.
  2. Summarise the method in one or two slides.
  3. Show the key results with clear charts.
  4. Explain what the results mean and their limitations.
  5. Finish with implications and next steps, then take questions.

Academic poster presentations: format and size

An academic poster summarises a study on one page, usually printed at A0 or A1 size in portrait or landscape. It should be readable from about two metres, with a short title, clear sections and large figures. Experts lay out your poster to your conference or course template.

  • Typical sections: title and authors, introduction, aim, methods, results, conclusion and references
  • Text: short paragraphs or bullets, with large fonts for headings
  • Visuals: graphs, diagrams and photos doing most of the work
  • Formats: print-ready PDF plus an editable PowerPoint file

Human presentation experts vs AI slide makers

AI slide makers create decks quickly, but they produce generic layouts, can't read your marking criteria and often add images and claims you can't reference. A human expert builds the story around your brief, checks every fact and designs slides that match your template.

Studying outside the UK?

Good presentation technique is universal, but assessment style, referencing on slides and poster formats vary by country. FLN tutors help students worldwide and follow your own brief and template.

How much does presentation help cost, and can you help last minute?

The cost depends on the number of slides, how much content work is needed and your deadline, and you see a fixed quote before you pay. Short decks can often be done within 24 to 48 hours, so last-minute presentation help is usually possible; tell us your deadline when you request a quote.

Worked example: rewriting a text-heavy slide

This fictional example comes from a nursing student's presentation on hand hygiene compliance. Text-heavy slides are one of the most common reasons presentations lose design and delivery marks.

VersionSlide content
BeforeTitle: "Results". Body: a 90-word paragraph describing compliance rates before and after the intervention on three wards, the audit method and the statistical test used.
AfterHeadline: "Hand hygiene compliance rose on all three wards after the intervention". Visual: one bar chart showing before and after compliance for each ward. Footnote: audit method and test in one line.
ChangeWhy it helps
Headline states the findingThe audience gets the point in five seconds
Chart replaces the paragraphVisual comparison is faster to read than numbers in text
Detail moves to speaker notesYou explain the method aloud instead of reading it
One idea per slideEasier to follow and to time

FAQ

Presentation Help: frequently asked questions

Yes. That includes seminar talks, group projects, poster presentations, dissertation and viva presentations, timed to your slot and using your university's template if you have one. The expert works from your brief and marking criteria, so the structure, timing and slide content match what your lecturer will assess.

Editable PowerPoint (.pptx), Google Slides or Keynote files, plus a PDF copy if you need one. Files stay fully editable, with text in real text boxes and charts you can update, so you can change wording, add your own examples and present confidently.

Yes, on request. Notes are written to fit your time limit and the way you speak. They are written as short prompts rather than a full script, so you sound natural, and they mark where to move to the next slide and how long each part should take.

A common guide is one slide per minute. Ten minutes means about 8 to 12 slides, with one main idea each. Keep complex charts on their own slide and leave a little time at the end for questions, so you never have to rush through the final slides.

Yes. Book a live session to rehearse with an expert, get feedback on pace and delivery, and prepare for questions. Rehearsal sessions can include practice answers to likely questions and tips on voice, pace, eye contact and handling nerves, which often makes the biggest difference to delivery marks.

Short decks can often be done within 24 to 48 hours. Tell us your deadline and slide count for a quote. Send the slide count, the speaking time, your notes or draft and any course template at the start, so the expert can begin straight away.
