ISC Class 12 Mathematics

What is ISC Class 12 Mathematics?

How do you score high in ISC Class 12 Maths?

  1. Prioritise calculus, which carries 35 of the 80 theory marks.
  2. Do not skip the shorter units: vectors, 3D geometry and linear programming together carry 16 marks.
  3. Show every step clearly for method marks.
  4. Learn standard integrals and methods of integration.
  5. Practise probability, including Bayes' theorem.
  6. Solve specimen and previous years' papers under timed conditions.

ISC Class 12 Mathematics: frequently asked questions

How is ISC Class 12 Maths assessed?

For the 2027 examination, ISC Mathematics (860) has one 3-hour theory paper worth 80 marks and project work worth 20 marks, made up of two projects of 10 marks each. The theory paper covers seven units, with calculus carrying 35 marks. There are no optional Sections B and C in this syllabus.

Has the ISC Class 12 Maths syllabus changed for 2027?

Yes. Older ISC Mathematics syllabuses split the paper into a compulsory Section A and optional Sections B and C. The 2027 syllabus has no such split: every candidate studies relations and functions, algebra, calculus, vector algebra, three-dimensional geometry, linear programming and probability. Check with your school which syllabus year applies to you.

Which part carries the most marks?

Calculus, which carries 35 of the 80 theory marks in the 2027 ISC Mathematics syllabus. Probability carries 9 marks, relations and functions and algebra 10 each, and vectors, 3D geometry and linear programming 16 marks together, so a strong all-round plan still covers every unit.
