What is Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics 0607 Extended?

In short: this course gives one-to-one online tutoring for Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics (0607) Extended, for grades A* to E. A verified maths tutor teaches the Extended content, graphic display calculator skills and the Paper 6 investigation and modelling.

Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics (0607) Extended is a Cambridge maths qualification that makes extensive use of a graphic display calculator and includes investigation and modelling. Extended candidates sit Papers 2, 4 and 6 and can achieve grades A* to E. It is a popular route into the IB Diploma.

This course covers the full Extended syllabus one to one with a verified maths tutor.

Official specification: Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics 0607 syllabus (2025–2027). Papers and content can change, so check the current specification on the board's website.

For wider support, see our maths tutoring page, or the Cambridge IGCSE Maths Extended (0580) course if your school uses 0580.

What are the 0607 Extended papers?

Extended candidates take three papers and can achieve grades A* to E. Calculators with symbolic algebra are not allowed. Exams run in June and November; the March series is for centres in India only.

Which topics does 0607 Extended cover?

The 0607 syllabus covers ten topics: number; algebra; functions; coordinate geometry; geometry; mensuration; trigonometry; transformations and vectors; probability; and statistics.

How do you approach Paper 6 (Investigation and Modelling)?

Paper 6 has one investigation section and one modelling section. Investigation questions ask you to spot patterns, form and test a general rule and justify it. Modelling questions ask you to build a mathematical model of a real situation, use it and comment on its limitations. Tutors practise both with past papers.

Using a graphic display calculator

Papers 4 and 6 need a graphic display calculator (GDC). Tutors teach you to sketch graphs, find intersections, maxima and minima, solve equations and run statistics on your GDC quickly and accurately, and to write down enough working to earn marks.

What does a worked Extended question look like?

Here is a typical question: solve 2x² − 3x − 5 = 0.

StepWorking
Factorise(2x − 5)(x + 1) = 0
Solvex = 2.5 or x = −1
Check2(6.25) − 7.5 − 5 = 0 ✓

Where do students lose marks in Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics Extended?

Students most often lose marks through the habits below. Each is easy to fix with practice and feedback.

Mark-loserWhat to do instead
No working shownWrite each step for method marks
GDC used without stating the methodWrite down what you entered
Wrong accuracyGive 3 significant figures unless told otherwise
