The 9202 specification covers: atomic structure and the periodic table; structure, bonding and the properties of matter; chemical changes; chemical analysis; acids, bases and salts; quantitative chemistry; trends within the periodic table; the rate and extent of chemical change; energy changes; and organic chemistry.
Practical knowledge is assessed through questions in the two written papers. You need to understand experiments such as making salts, titration, electrolysis and rates of reaction, and be able to describe methods, process results and evaluate them. Because either paper can test any topic, revision has to cover the whole specification.
